the thing is, you run into a lot of crap as a beginner, stuff you start to exclude from your behavior. as a tutor i often had people running into stuff i had no clue how to reproduce, with interns or juniors on site the same. I bet there is similar stuff in blender, and if it's just weird behavior, not bugs, you just start…
I never turn them off but i almost never use them for rotation. When i rotate things most of the time i press r. Or r 90. Or r 180. Restricting it to an axis is also quick with blenders method so once you get used to using keys for manipulating objects it becomes much faster than every other program I have worked with.
Yeah, that's why I posted on the previous page why the shortcuts are not the main problem but rather the way you change them and the fact that you broke some function by changing something. Like in the Maya navigation style video (yes again) where the knife tool won't let you pan around if you don't change other stuff too.…
Thanks, and sorry, I got flooded with emails instantly, and so I removed my contact info from my profile. I agree with all the points pior makes, and also wish I had switched sooner instead of continuing to invest in Modo. Edit: oh, and yeah... stability. Blender is really way more stable than Modo and Maya. I even run the…
If you want to be left out of it, I'm a bit curious as to why you felt the need to respond with that. Regardless, I say polarizing because its a matter of fact you are. You say things that absolutely contradict your wants or complaints... for example here.. "I'm not initiating a conversation with you" yet you are…
There are indeed many ways to remap/modify this kind of default behavior, but it does require a little bit of advanced know-how with the input editor. This is probably best kept for a little later, ie for a time when you are even more familiar with the program. That being said : the XYZ manipulator can be (and in my…
@polygons: With all due respect, no-one seems to be saying that bugs take a very long time to fix. They are, however, pointing out that deliberate design decisions take a long time (& generally a large amount of community outrage) to change. Right-click select is backward when taken in context of pretty much every other…
I thought I saw someone complain about them not fixing bugs but that might have been in another thread. anyway, I agree with you that some of blenders default settings should be changed but I seem to disagree with how important that is because in my perspective it is trivial. I realize your underlying message with that…
Hey everyone, I have never tried out blender, so I don't have an opinion about it. Before MODO I had been using 3ds max for over 14 years, along with a slew of other programs in the mix like many of you. I'm not here to start a war between software choices or add fuel to the fire. I honestly wish we could have productive…
I can feel so much rage :) MmAaXx, I have all the respect for you as an artist, and dig it that you use and promote Blender, so please don't take this personally - it's not. From my point of view there's 3-4 things that make eficient software 1. Interaction (this is where Hotkeys, Mouse and GUI would fall under) 2. Tool…
