I know there are some other polycounters and cgchatters doing freelance work on Mass, which is being handled by Liquid. From what I have seen they are doing some very good work!
pior awesome chrome let's keep the pencils grinding (and wacom pens!) Drew up this concept last night for the CGChat jetpack comp, managed to color him today while the boss wasn't lookin'.
Hey all, Here's a comparison between three methods for mixing normal maps. To me, CGBootcamp's method actually looks worse than just overlaying and darkening the blue channel 50%... but both methods look pretty bad to me. The added details look flat because they aren't oriented correctly. Blending normalmaps is a 3D…
Agreeing with Rollin that the character design isn't the problem right now. Go back into your texture and break up the diffuse color with some different hues on the large block of color areas. (pants, boots, shirt etc.) that are largely just one color. I see shadows in there, but most materials aren't simply one flat…

Very often all he does is to kill details and add better lighting to make things look really great. I was browsing that whole thread for a few hours yesterday and i was…
Currently your textures look like you have run a photoshop filter over them. How are you creating these textures? If you're aiming for a more realistic style, use photographs as blending layers or points of reference for painting in detail by hand. Edit: Look at the thread directly below this one, "10 texturing…
Thanks guys! The textures are all taken from CGTextures.com and then heavily tweaked. The normal maps and displacement maps are from Crazybump, and I'm using parallax occlusion mapping on the main brick texture to give it extra depth. I still have a lot to do for this building yet. Buddy sent me a sweet paintover a few…
It looks like you need to take some more care in picking the photos you use for textures. The ones you have chosen don't seem to fit very well. Check out CGTextures.com for some good textures. Try to combine several textures together and tweak them until you get something you like instead of just using the textures…
