You are 100% correct its a basic set of meshes that I would need to have customization via decals. Just like Need for Speed when your changing the look of your car via colors, decals etc.
The decals need to be a separate mesh, since the client would like to be able to use them to do some 3d painting in either 3dcoat or Zbrush down the road and have the design land as close as possible to the actual decal on the UTV's
is the trash on the concrete (ground) texture or are you using decal sheets? You would be able to have a much high res ground texture if you used decal sheets for the trash and debris and it would look better in my opinion.
Is this just for adding detail or are you having them be created by a vehicle? Gearbox used decals for their decorative tire tracks in BL3. Though I think they modified the decals, instead of using the default. https://youtu.be/R0-ynCTdCow?t=2498
Today i have included checked the size in unreal and unwrapped more props. And I have strated to work on decals :D (yeeeaaaahhhhhh texture time's !!!!) --electrical panel --door --cart with variations --street decals see you tomorrow !!! :)
Well. It's more limitation of how decals are implmened in what I'm usign right now (but I can't talk about it yet). Because none material tweaking I tried helped. it's issue of how decals are blended into underlaying surface.
great model! I think for the blue leg. If you add some gears/ detail to it. It'll help a lot. Also some decals would give it some love too. White decals might look nice. match the armor
I would use a basic tilable texture for the building and then add specific grunge with decals, decal materials, or LERP materials. If you have like 3 LERP materials, it should still be better than uniquely mapping the whole building.
I would just make a quad-strip in that shape with a very simple material applied to it, no real need to over engineer it. If you have access to Deferred decals(mesh decals in UE4), then have it applied as that and you will get the normals of whatever is below.
I was thinking for modular pieces instead of vertex paint i can use Decals .What do you guys think ?I can use cgtextures.com decals with specular and normal map with alpha and put it on plane and just snap it on walls
