First Lighting Test (Arnold Lighting & Render) Still trying to learn, Definitely have my work cut out for me. Its suppose to be dark (Unlike all the photo's above), HOWEVER, I need some help. So if you can spare a few minutes to share some guidance, I would greatly appreciate it!
I don't use Maya so I can't help much. I know it depends on the renderer that you're using, if it supports this feature that you're looking for -- it's usually a parameter called "transmission" or "translucency". If you're using Mental Ray, Arnold etc. you should search how to make the big glass orb material be translucent.
You can just export out textures from substance. There is a save icon on the 2d preview window. You can select the file format and make a tga or whatever you want to, and then just apply them in the texture slots of the material. But anyways, I'm pretty sure you can import raw substances without a need for Arnold.
Thanks man, about the material , i use render the hi poly in maya with arnold with some custom materials :-) Wouldnt be doing much work this weekend. and here is the progress so far of the texturing.Been painting the golden bits of the character so far,.Iam going for a painted metal look.Still a long way to go but…
This is a fantastic video that I found and I feel that it's quite similar to the struggles and barriers that 3d artists face when trying to break into the industry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJPRj19OU-w Arnold is a doer, he put in extra work outside of the core training/work hours. This is what the doers of the games…
Thanks! Glad you like it. Aye, there is a bit of Ian McKellen present there... The other head I did, had Mick Jagger and Arnold Swarzenegger as reference - a super combo :D The fur was done pretty basic, painting an alpha of various dot sizes all over the mesh and using the move tool to block it out. Cheers!
The thing that truly amazes me is that you rendered this with mental ray. I instantly thought it was rendered with GI based engines like maxwell or arnold,... Can you give some more information about your lighting/render methods? I rarely see such beautiful soft shadows and soft reflections as these. Carry on the good…
WIP Hi world, this is my Yakuza artwork, which I developed during my participation in the ArtStation challenge "Neo Tokyo: Exponential Reality" in the Film/VFX Character Art category (rendered). This experience was incredibly exciting and allowed me to navigate the entire 3D pipeline, from likeness sculpting, modeling, and…
For my arnold renders I have a few different render layers and when I render them without merging AOVs selected it creates different folders but with merge aov's selected I only get one master layer. Does merge aov's merge in render layers as well? Would I just need to extract them in nuke?
Hello guys. this is my first topic on Polycount. I'm trying to find a community that really cares about new users. So this project is finished, I know that it doesn't look complex but I've actually put a lot of effort to complete it. My focus was on proportions and good shapes. It is an original concept. I've taken…
