I still think that in general that realsitc 3d humans look a little comical, once they are rigged and skiweighted . The more relaistic you 'try' to make them the more disppointment you are likely to feel. I am sticking to more stylised stuff for sure. Nahh thats not true I am doing environmental art at the moment -

For what it's worth, I think your original head worked pretty well as a stylised/cartoon design. Your models might not be entirely anatomically correct, but they do possess a lot of personality, something that's often lacking in a lot of people's character art. Try not to hold onto that as you develop your skills -

Personally, the details from your sculpting are fine. Maybe tone down a little the areas I circled in red? It's more about tiny realist details from your materials that bothers me a little. I would go all the way stylised. Just my two cents though! Cheers! :) -

bad ass merc character
here is a quick test ive been working on recently taking a break from stylised character art and had my first proper try at sculpting a realistic character. so i went for a smoking aces style merc here it is after 3 days of sculpting heres the full body the legs have barley been worked into so exscuse the roughness. -

Damm Dude, this is sooo dope. i'm in love with the tracer preview, really a nice way of visualising stylised hair. One important thing I would definitely add to your shader is a translucency effect. Oh and one side question, how is the performance of this shader doing so far? keep it up man. -

The more I read P&P on Polycount, the more I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who can't hand paint textures. Looks great! Careful you don't lose the stylisation by pushing the gold too much, while I too agree it needs changing a little, it's not far off! -

it depends on the model, of course. if it were a simple 3d rotation, or a mesh which is designed to be 100% accurate to the human physique. with hideable muscle groups/flesh etc. then it would be a brilliant learning tool. using Marcus Fenix, who is heavily stylised would be a bad example of a model to use if you're trying… -
