Ok, so reading through this thread, I have had a few thoughs on new courses of action. So to preface what I am about to say next, time really isn't a huge issue, and money is not a massive issue. I get an AA in Art from my local community college so I can stay local for a bit longer, and then I go on with my Comp Sci AA…
Why does the programmer need all the animations in one file? The fact that the unity documentation suggests this is a good way to work (I have read this myself) is astounding imo. If you're working on a large scale game with more than one animator that is just completely unworkable. If it must be compiled into one…
It doesn't look like your normal map is really having any effect on the mesh, just looks like a diffuse texture. I'd also suggest eventually learning how to sculpt and bake. You can get by for now with just using reference images and photo shopping them into a texture but eventually you're going to want to sculpt high…
It's an SD card adapter. For $25. Simcards are a little different, as they are generally not frequently removed. SD cards are removed all the time in order to transfer data where-ever. The reason why standardised SD cards do not sit flush with the Macbook case is simply because the drive is not spring loaded and you'd…
Hey guys, I made some more changes to my portfolio and was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on the layout and content. I'm applying for game companies again and getting art tests occasionally although not as many as I'd like. Any advice ya'll could give me on that front? I've done some contract work for…
Ok so I definetely agree with you guys and plan on changing up the lighting, however, I've been trying to edit my normals in speedtree and it just seems to be impossible. Whenever I export from speedtree to UE4 (im using the ue4 subscription version so I can't export to max and edit the normals there), the normals that I…
If the UVs are not heavily distorted in that area you can indeed paint it on directly. If not: - Paint the details on a stencil that you can then project to the lowpoly in a 3d painting environment like Substance painter or 3DCoat, or to the highpoly in Zbrush - Or, create a secondary set of UV especially for decals, and…
I don 't know how it would work exactly (I guess it's country based), but in France, Belgium and probably some other countries, you can can transfere your experience years into a degree. Depending of your experience it can make you skip some years or so. I know it for sure because that's what I'm doing at the moment. In my…
Cool shot! I left some notes. The best thing you can do is act it out. If you don't have a bat grab a broom or a similar object. Pay attention to how you hold it and what your body does as you swing. The main issues are; Lack of anticipation to create the momentum of the swing. Bigger antics allow for clearer silhouettes…
I once modeled and uvmapped in Wings3D. When i was using XSI/EXP, i had problems importing obj files from Wings3D. Actually, the mesh was fine, but the uvmapping was not imported. There is no fix for this so far. If you learn how to UVmap in XSI, you can work around the Mod Tool problem. UVmapping in XSI is one of it's…
