Yes, thats right. I am aware of decals, though I do not yet know how to create and use them. Getting into decals is still a thing on my learning-list... ;)
Still alive.. Had some quick fun in corel painter painting a little rug, although I think it'll look better with an opacity fringe rather than straight circle mask. (Found out Unreal 4 doesn't really support solid decals yet, oh well planes work better anyways) Probably going to end up making more kinds of different shapes…
Here's more screenshots of the texture of the walls and windows, the illustrations are decals. I must work in shadows with decals too. Yei Bodmer 💀: https://www.artstation.com/yeibodmer https://www.instagram.com/yeibodmer3d
Working on a mould decal. There is a slider to get different moulds, and a few for adjusting the shape of the decal. In Unreal you can easily instance the substance to get loads of variations with just one import.
dirty textures/ adding some decals; edit; changed some lighting/ added decals Next up adding dirt/ small parts of debris to the floor edit2; Another lighting change..
An ancient technique . I'm still doing it similar way. If you use something like Houdini or Blender you could do it all procedurally across huge extents. With a few extra decals over like dried off or wet puddles , fallen leaves etc nobody would ever notice those seams so in modern games it would rather be a combination of…
Made some details on the materials but was having trouble adding decals. I will make the decals in Quixel with base materials then do the details in Painter. Somehow Painter has always been unstable for me :/
That's cool. Only issue Google things are not for commercial use. Does anyone know a good source of terrain geo and textures from public domain? I recall US agriculture department had 1pix for meter images a decade ago with pretty free to use license but I read they changed their mind. is there anything now?
What version of UE4 you're using? Recently i've been having problems applying decals since i'm forced to use the blend mode as translucent, which makes the decal color barely noticeable.
A, looks real sexy! Can't really say the oil painting makes sense but who cares? :P I'm assuming you are using UDK decal actor? http://www.hourences.com/tutorials-ue3-decals/
