My advice is to download UDK and Cry engine open up their demo levels and see what they do. Most assets now have bespoke textures, a desk will have a different texture to a chair and a barrel will have a different texture than a light. Walls and floors generally have tiling textures and are made up of modular geometry sets.
@TomDunne: FUCK YEAH CORPSEPILE! (Nothing is sacred learn to laugh and cry at everything and life is easier) @Topic: The more I read up on this the more excited I am actually, if this is just a thing happening in the Bioshock universe with no ties to the previous games then thats fine. But I do hope they sneak in some kind…
I believe Far Cry 4 uses upwards of 20k for the first person weapon model. I think Nathan Drake is around 120k poly's for the upcoming Uncharted. Mant1k0re is pretty much on the money. Don't sacrifice the quality of the asset because you think a few thousand poly's will make or break the game. Just model smart.
It can make baby dolls cry, blow up your rubik's cube and plays Blueray movies! You're lucky it can play games at all! Excuse me, I'm going to go watch some Franz Ferdinand videos on my PSP and maybe look at pictures a mysterious girl left me on a memory card.
what is wrong with me -_- In my defence I had a lot on my mind... EDIT: for crying out loud.. now I can't rotate around my object? what now? EDIT: Ok it hasn't worked, I tried importing the UVW of another OBJ from 3ds max with the correct UVW coordinants and nothing came of it.
Gigabyte is a good brand and I used them when I used to overlock. Generally if an Asus or Gigabyte is cheaper. Man I really need to get back and start to update my computer. My q6600 and 3870 are crying :( Whats the price on these suckers? Might just end up giving this rig to my brother and starting again.
Gav: Really like this update. The direction you've taken the face is great, I think. Again though, without a texture and all these colors I'm a bit overwhelmed by...stuff. I'm guessing you're going to be able to bring it all together and focus the viewers attention in the texture, so I'll stop crying "too busy!" now.
Soon in Crytek ? That's gotta be next year or so. Crytek is Indie. Yeah, a Company that owns several studios it's own R&D department can still be indie. EA have NOTHING to do with Crytek. They were only in arrgment by EA PArtners Program for Crysis series. DICE is making technology that is/will be used by most internal EA…
oh yeah... you can also use salt... haha... another interesting method... After the paint is dry on the bottom layer (i always use a harder drying paint (enamal type stuff)) and then when it's completely dry you can wet the area a little (wipe it down with a wet paper towel and sprinkle some salt on the area you want the…
@TheGabmeister Thank you! Yes, this is what I want, to be something like Dying Light/ Fallout 4/ Far cry Dawn, some post-apocalyptic world where the people still have hope and maybe not many years have passed since disaster/war. ( because I don't want to make the scene very messy/damaged.
