I decided starting in zbrush wasn't the best idea. I'm now thinking of using reference, and painting in PS. I'll use the end result as an alpha (for Zbrush) and probably the basis for my diffuse map. I heard that there are new kinds of maps though for UE4, which I'll have to look into.
looking really good, i think you could bring in a few areas though like under his neck and his tail to help bring out his form and also some bigger feet. i did a quick liquify in ps to help show what i mean.
PS is nice, but super expensive for only doing sketches. Sketchbook pro is cool, and had a very clean, non-overloaded interface last time i used it. Also look at Krita, which is an amazing full featured painting tool and free. Its open source and developing very quickly
You could cut down on some of the geo, specifically in the handles. Other than that, the model looks pretty good. Gilesruscoe's post has some useful information, so take note. I was expecting this to be a model of the character Tommy Gunn from Rocky 5. PS: Embed your images!
For the record it is super strange watching someone build a sci-fi character from your own face! But unsurprisingly I really, really love this guy, Lee. Nice work! I might have to buy a leather jacket... PS> Not the worst photo of me, yet still terrible! :D
More like 85-100 4096 textures at once. They demoed this at the office here (like 2 hours ago). This could (easily) become the photoshop replacement we've always been looking for. It's still a few versions away (of course) from completely replacing ps, but i can see it coming. :)
That intrinsic one is pretty much useless, since it only does offline texture filling as you say, which requires application framework support. On top of that, it would only be in UV space, so none of the 3D-seamless benefits. Doing Filter > Render > Clouds in PS is the exact same thing.
Cool.. thanks Haiasi and Nite.. ya I actually positioned the lamp above the druid's head on purpose to draw attention to the druid.. I see how that could cause a little visual conflict.. i'll touch it up a bit then.. and i'll work on trying to get a little contrast in there via PS
So here is the full character, posed with his massive hammer. Rendered in Marmoset, background in Ps. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on the render and composition. Thanks again to people for watching and commenting, and a big thanks to the people who have critted and advised on g+ hangouts!
Interesting decision. Polycount gets alot of public attention considering the quality of work displayed here regularly and the competition idea should serve to boost that even more. ps: after reading posts it still isn't clear, are you thinking of opting out of Dominance War forever, or just for this year?
