Awesome info Ace! I thought I was going crazy... I wonder if it's compiler problem? Or something with the way the variable names are generated? Really strange. Now that I think about it, I noticed something odd when I tried to make a SSS shader(ear back scattering) one day.
Thanks! You're right about that disappearing anatomy. It's definitely the low-poly (a crappy zremesh :) ) and the sss. I boosted the normal map here and there where I lost details. I particularly wanted the veins and muscle striations to pop a bit more. Used that horrible zremesh low-poly to get comfortable with Headus..
Sorry I been Mia guys...moved last week and just got sorted. Cable will be turned on so I will update and do a long list of critiques. Looking amazing guys. Steveston you got a SSS on that, right? Same thing I am doing too. Hope it looks half as good.
Looking damn good sir! I wouldn't mind seeing the skin a tad paler. Your skin material looks pretty good so I don't think you would lose the warmth that much since ur sss will still be there. Eyes look real nice! Can't wait to see the hair!
Yeah Josh has the special sauce. I work in the same office with him and he's knocked me up 3 times! Congrats man! She turned out real purdy! Heh and you went with the SSS! I still think Ashley Star Singh had a good ring to it. :P - BoBo
Thanks guys. Yeah I might try getting the blended normals SSS in there, together with transmission. It's gonna take some fiddling though, as I'm really scraping the walls now. But first there should be another big big update in the coming weeks, can't really say when though since it's not up to me.

@rgbeard You're right, they do. I'm playing around with different LUT profiles in the post process color grading and am not 100% sold on my decision yet. You're correct about the SSS as well. I think I turned it off for this shot. I'll play with that as well. Thanks for checking it out, man.
Hair and Brows Hair and Eyebrows are done! Next, I will revisit the skin texture and shader, I want more detail, variation and SSS. There's definitely something weird with the eyes, and I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I am afraid that any fixes are going to cause a domino effect with the motion capture.
Could be a packed texture. Open it in PS(or similar) and look at each of the R, G, and B channels individually. It could be Gloss/SSS/Reflection maps for a skin shader or a mask for hair/eyebrows. A packed texture is just a method of saving draw calls/memory in-engine by packing multiple greyscale maps into unused channels…
