Usually when it's straight, it' just messes up the bi-normal directions, and emulating a hard edge in the low poly. That can sometimes be a solution, but usually there's aliasing issues... particularly on consoles. I think in Far Cry 2, the first person guns don't even have Normal Maps. They just used additional geometry.
Great thread i hope to see some nice ppm's for Quake 4, this stuff is quite rare lately, sadly.... Im trying to get a ppm in Far Cry atm since this game lack ppm's too, if it fails i give Quake 4 a try. And Zatoichi great concepts do some more
Finally saw it this weekend. Absolutely beautiful and tear jerking. Pixar does not just create animated movies, they create amazing worlds and characters through memorable stories that are universal to all age groups, skin color and demographic. I'll go on record of saying that if you didn't cry for those toys you have no…
Pretty cool so far, I like the concept and idea (thanks for your unbiased opinion, MKingery ;) ) ... definitely you could push the silhouette of the sights especially in the firstperson view, it's a really bland area right now that is just crying out for interesting mid-level detail (scooped cutouts, panel insets,…
The way the tan straps sit on top of his black outfit with no shadows whatsoever indicating they are there, is awful. Some of the lighting is very inconsistent, there are just times when he doesn't seem to be in the environment at all, just full bright on top of a tan background. I wish it looked just like the trailer from…
Do the teardrops mean he is a cry-baby? I personally think tattoos are a very personal thing. I got my first one a few years ago and really want to get a half sleeve once funds come in. As for my tattoo I wouldn't care if anyone liked it, its important to me and all that matters.
been playing with this a bit, got deeper into making custom presets and fiddling with settings. Really digging it, though it also makes me cry on the inside that the magic is being taken away. Getting some good results! quickie stupid rock, its not perfect, would want to do more on it, but is a great place to start!…
Thought I was a bit over due for an update. Still clearly a lot to do but I have started to texture things. Please excuse the awful lighting. Anyone got any good tips or links for indoor lighting in cry engine? Its all in a vis area at the moment. http://i.imgur.com/mkXEFAO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/R8fv0rd.jpg
dream on. if you were willing to pay $45000 you may get a ok to good indy game. but for indy AAA your looking at a budget over $120k. devil may cry will have cost tens millions to make. $4500 would barley cover the cost of modeling all the character art minus any character animation
Its also good that you have made fixes and i recommend redoing it as well based on all of the crits. Its good practice for when you work in the industry because you will fixe tons of work in your career, redo quite a bit too and cry when whole levels you have worked on get canned :)
