How long do you think it will be till price drops happen? Maybe on a GTX 550 ti or 560 ti model which i like either. Just wanting it for DX 11 so i mess around with it in UDK and maybe a little gaming. Also i read somewhere about DX 11.1, anyone know much about it? -

Quadro/firegl cards are typically much slower at the same price point as consumer GPUs. To get a Quadro in the performance range of a GTX 980 you have to spend $5-6K, which is simply insane. A Quadro (K2200) at the same price point as a GTX 980 is roughly 3 times slower. For game dev work, there is essentially no reason to… -

I'd start with more geometry. I did this starting with a cylinder with 60 sides. The extra geometry will help reduce any distortion. Yeah plenty of great looking stuff in Unity. If you don't like the default shaders then have a look at the Strumpy shader editor http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/56180-Strumpy-Shader-Editor-Now-Open-Source (edit) Although it seems people are having trouble with it for the Unity 4 version. -

For high end 3d, I wouldn't recommend any of the MBPs, the 750M in the 15 inch really isn't going to cut it, and you're not likely to find any laptop in the 13 inch range that will come anywhere close.
