We are going to release the new xoliulshader with all the code. So you can see how we did it. But to get you started. Take a look at scripted plugins / scripted materials
I think there's a script which evenly spaces out your edge loops. Just select a edge > ring > run the script! that's it! Maybe someone could post it, I can't find it.
Hmm. Some images of what you're doing presently would help. Maybe this is useful: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/pix3led Or this: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/voxelizer
I haven't defined anything as a string (the script text is above) Other scripts don't define the names as strings so I don't understand why mine isn't working :( :P
So what would differentiate a tool developer and a script monkey? Since this is about portfolios, what would be a good example of well thought out tool, rather than a simple script?
There is also this script at highend3d, that appears to be an update to an older script I once used, that mimicks that functionality. I presume, without looking at the MEL, that it's just macroing the constraint-delete constraint method.
there is a solidify script... think if you are using this on a face would do somthing like inset... http://www.creativecrash.com/maya/downloads/scripts-plugins/modeling/poly-tools/c/p3d-solidify
[ QUOTE ] Max + polycruncher + polyboost + TiM scripts shrink wrap and conform wrap haha, convoluted? [/ QUOTE ] whats that TiM scripts shrink wrap and conform wrap you speak about?
This is how it should works. :) Now, download this script and use it to write your own. The nethod that is used is verry similar to what I use in some of my scripts.
Check out soulburn scripts it has a great object painter script that blows advanced painter out of the water. Or consider upgrading to max2011 they included a similar function
