Yeah, Max 2008's viewport performance is about 10x faster than 8/9 (not just marketing blurb, it's actually true) - I did some tests on Max 2008 and Maya 2008 - with a 1.5 million triangle model, Max 2008 gets just over 100fps in the viewport, Maya 2008 gets a mighty 16fps (which is about what Max 8 could manage).… -

first low poly test in blender, just did the torso to see how things look. its currently sitting a bit high at about 1600 tri , my target for was about 5000 tri .. so that leaves me 3400 to do the arms and leg.. so 800 or so for each limb ? not very much but it might still work. -

Well in max you can make a material with a checker box grid and change out the number of times it tiles to what you want. So you make a few different tiling amounts, like 16x16 and 32x32. -

The design of this new mac is once again awesome and nothing less. The specs however worry me. It has only very little RAM and you cannot increase it by yourself. For no keyboard, no mouse and no display 500$ is still pretty much. The system bus is at 167MHz, which I think is pretty low (I could be wrong about that…
