Going to be working on a throne room built in a successful Dwarven Mining complex. Inspired by Lord of the rings/Hobbit and I want lots of stairs because stairs are cool! It should also give me a few areas where substance Designer should excel over other programs and I am looking forward to exploring what it can do! Here…
Here's some progress on my project: I did a black and white test on my render and realized the contrast on the wood and the stone bricks were too similar. I brightened up the bricks, and bumped down the contrast on the material. I also darkened the wood and added more contrast. Much happier with the result. I tried many…
My idea for the Throne Room is an ampitheater of jagged stone, leading up to a large hole in a mountain. The Throne will rest in the middle of it, with a large, tooth like stone jutting out from the rocks and providing a cover for the throne. I'll be posting up concepts soon. Sounds like a great contest. When I first read it to my wife she immediately suggested doing the throne room of a queen bee. I can see it working for another colony insect as well, but I love the idea of the brood and honey and hexagons. We'll see as the concept starts to get fleshed out. Good luck everyone! edit - Sorry…
I know it seems like a very basic thing but I'm starting a new project and I would like to start on the right foot. If you were to model a room, how would you start? Do you line up and merge planes together? Do you make an inverted(material on the inside) box? If you do make an inverted box please let me know how you go…
Indiana Jones Tribute - Map Room of Tanis Here's a project I've been working on for the past month, it's based on a scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark. I'll probably come back to it in a few weeks and add a final layer of polish. But for the meantime I thought you guys would enjoy looking at some pretty screenshots. Feel…
For this challenge, I'm planning on creating the throne room of a sewer rat. All objects in the scene are going to be small, common objects that a rat could have possibly found on the street on in someone's house. I want the scene to look like it will fall apart if you pushed or sat on anything with too much force. My…
Hi Polycount and fellow Contestants :D After using Substance for the last couple of weeks to produce tileables, I figured I'd give this contest a shot, some of you may have seen them on hangouts and i've had some good feedback/responses. Its about time I actually finished something in my threads for once so I'm trying to…
