Could care less if GA shuts down. Outside of crazyfool's sketchbook (ps. move that over here dude ASAP!) Just means more awesome people coming over here to Polycount and we can be one giant big love/hate family.
I love this plugin too, so bad that Dieter stopped doing recompiles/did'nt give the source code to Dave Baker ( maxplugins.de ) Maybe we should ping Dieter for it ? PS: contacted Dieter per LinkedIn, lets wait and see how the response will be ....
Good works, keep going :) I like the red one with dark figure, got atmosphere. Small fix - holding axe like that is kind of unusual, fliping the blade so it face ground should be nice. ps. less blood-gore, more girls :)
that texture looks great. in engine however it seems a bit over saturated. say desaturate it slightly (i tossed it in PS and 30% looks kinda nice), and then level it to get as much diffuse detail as possible out of it. what do the normals look like for that texture?
@aka Chris Cool, that's an interesting workflow, I've never thought to generate my height map from the geometry before (via B&W colour ID), I've always just drawn it by hand in PS. I'll have to give that a go! Cheers, K
I think James Wild is referring to this process, ie editing your cage to get rid of the waviness (snagged from Ben Mathis' portfolio site). Editing the cage is a bit of a pain unfortunately - but a better option than painting it out in PS, in my opinion.
ok so i fixed the tris on the front, brought the rear in just a little. I also elongate the torso, which i know think it looks weird... will look into fixing up the joints. ps thanks for the paint overs and links. you guys rock.
It will not be baked in to those maps because PBR demands separate AO, but if you want AO you add it at any by choosing Add new map/Ambient occlusion. If you want to bake your AO in to the diffuse, just put it ontop and chose multiply in PS.
Some pieces won't always be clean power of 2 in PS, for example if you wanted any 45 degree angle wall its gonna stretch your UV unless you unwrap. Here is a good resource http://www.philipk.net/tutorials/modular_sets/modular_sets.html
ps also i am also looking for some ideas what clothes to put her in if any of you guys have an idea what might be cool :) remember i am probably gonna make her into a playable character so nothing to crazy.
