been messing with normal map baking in blender and kept gettig weird self intersections, but then relaised that without a cage, the Extrude distance is very important. works fine now. Should have added the bolt to the wheet nut, but could maybe add that in photoshop The bus signs were redone in Krea AI, very handy tool…
Hello to everyone, here`s my model of some kind of sci-fi grenade. While modeling I faced some issues, and I will be very grateful if you will give me advises about them. So the first of all, and the most important for me, is geometry issue. I created low poly in zbrush using ZModeler. Here i got all the "problematic…
Codefather, thanks for the insight, that looks like an interesting way of modelling indeed. In regards to the graphite modelling tools (polyboost) from what I saw it looked basically like the edit poly panel docked above :D I'll have to have a proper play around with the GM tools, and try this technique. render - that…
1) As someone who came from Maya and also took a swing at Blender for a bit, I found Modo easier to adopt. Just pick the officially supported Maya keymap/navigation in Modo, turn off trackball rotation and you will feel at home. Blender is not worth relying on as it expects you to learn its radically different control…
Hey Jtho! I think its a great decision to branch out and learn some 3D. Its always good to have multiple disciplines under your belt, especially so when you crossing the bridge between 2D and 3D that many 2D artists dont take the time to learn. There are several ways to create the concave shape where the button rests.…
@NikhilR - thanks very much! Here's a gif of the same shot with wireframe: If you want to be able to get a little closer to the wireframe, you can go to the Sketchfab link and turn on wireframe. Under the hood, it's mostly lots of wire deformers, blend shapes (for the mouth), and a loooot of shrinkwrap deformers to keep…
Cool discussion here!:) I first started in C4D then switched on Maya 2013 because i wanted to learn what people actually use in industry. I really liked Maya workflow and all other stuff together with modeling even though it's not that great but the mayor flow in modeling with Maya was selection! Oh man, picking and aiming…
If you want to lose the hard edges, you make your HP the way you want your LP to appear. The high poly you are using still has sharp corners with no chamfering at all, so that's what will get baked down into the normal map. A HP with rounded corners will bake into the normal map for the LP, thus causing the LP to appear to…
So during the construction of the Oasis Map I decied it would be awesome to take pictures like every day and make a gif out of them too see how the map builds up. Didnt do it everyday but got enough that I thought it was worth a share to some of the guys at work, enough people liked it that they posted it up on the ND…
