Yeah, loft works too. And it's automatic procedural, don't have to analysing model/object at first. But doesn't hurt to model it like every other low powly objects, just need fair edges plan and such. Thanks for loft method suggestion.
Hi guys, i`m on 3DsMax and i can`t use any other software.. that`s the goal of the assigment in the Seneca Game Art programm. Does anyone know how could i model something like this, without probooleans...
@Brick Top So long as the end result looks good, don't worry a tit about what the un-turbosmoothed model looks like :) Don't get bogged down in unnecessary cleaning of the model, it'll only hold you back :)
Looks like a model thats just meant for rendering or something as the topology is all over the place. Some pieces have control edges and smoothed edged while that main piece with the two booleans is just left sharp. Definitely not useful for baking.
you could try something like this in planar areas, doesnt really matter how the topology is, as long as it smoths nicely. edit: here is the obj http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/93793/stuff.obj here you see the mesh subdivided. looks nice :)
@Noors, how did you get the lines to line up so perfectly? Mine are perfect on half of it, but the other half looks like this (the lines are in the middle of the other cylinders lines) (sorry for my stupitidy, heh, I'm just really new to this)
You can also turn topology around, like so: That way you can get rid of the "sharpenning edge". Example: To Brick Top: As long as you are not sculpting it, it should be fine (if you can get your head around that topology).
from google : "If you want to keep them as instances you will need to do something else to get them to bend like that...create a simple joint chain with a joint at each link point and then parent them to the joints." try it, report progress:)
Any suggestions on how you all would attack this handle? its geo should be shaped like a coil/spring. I've tried to build it from a helix with splines and also tried starting with a basic cube but i cant seem to nail it.
I've never been modeling / sculpting with Zbrush, I gotta learn it :/ All I've done with Zbrush is normal maps, you know. I'd like to make it by myself, otherwise it would be pointless for me, but give it a try if you want of course!
