thanks all for the feedback and crits. 6168 triangles for the gun and sight. I Think I'm going to add more detail to the hi poly on the sight. I'm afraid it still reads as a big box. I ditched the green look. I changed a lot of what I was doing with AO. I think it looked harsh and hamfisted in previous images. Hopefully… -

I have never had a problem with Modeling in Maya, it gets a bad rap the same way Max gets a good rap in some things. These ideas were forged years ago because feature-wise there was a big difference on emphasis between the two programs. Now, modeling is really the simplest part of the equation. Hey guys my map wont load up anymore :( when i try to open it it just crashes :/ dont know what the problem is would suck if i had to redo everything :( its saved as DM-Quarintine. i had some errors in the map before i closed it it had something to do with the grass :S not sure if that would be the cause if anyone can help… -

Agreed it seems people use there final diffuse and just run them through the Nvidia plug-in.. (or Crazybump). If you had a texture with black and white paint on it.. would you also just run it through the plug-in? The forms should be 'normalmapified' not the colour information.… -
