Im sure this is what Dave meant: Hopefully Im not confusing anyone further I didnt get good results until I made the chain closer to the surface, and set the falloff of the skin wrap to .001
Holy shit! Just reading the 'necropost' made me realise that there are people waiting for this since 2006. Well I hope some might be glad to hear that it's still up and running. Definetly looks intriguing.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9gk92jimvh4jkli/example.zip?dl=0 I've made an example scene of a piece of geometry that has the issue. Just click on the mesh "007" and render to texture. The scene was saved in max 2015.

Thanks. I modeled the Rocket Launcher. It currently has 1006 tris but I have not optimized it yet. The Assualt Rifle is made up of 996 tris. Letme know what you think. Alex
This is a free texture from here: https://3dtextures.me/2018/10/04/sapphire-001/ Basically, I'm curious how this is rendered properly with height and depth to the render. Obviously if this texture is added to a sphere it will simply be flat. Is adding a bump map the correct way to do this?
