The brown tiling wall/ceiling texture in the original level looks like mausoleum crypt faces, the kind of place where they stack coffins inside a wall, with face plates. You can find all kinds of cool reference if you search for "mausoleum crypt decay" or similar.…
I believe the piece is more about pretty much any eastern block country in late 80s/90s in decay. So not specifically Latvia. Funny enough I am also from Latvia. :) Have to agree with others about the lights being a bit too strong near the windows. But its getting along very nicely!
I stopped to use MAx for rendering anything long ago so my memory is a bit in fog about it but my guess you should be able to render uv or just normal AOV whatever MAx calls it nowadays . I mean you render the normals AOV before deacals then normal AOV of decals only and then composite it back together in 2d compositor .…
Creator + Hello people! I want to introduce a tool - Creator + What's this? Custom panel for Photoshop. Made for personal convenience, and based on the needs of the 3d artist. What can she do? Zmask Creator - Creates a small alpha to help work with the texture in Zbrush Bump Creator - Creates a base to generate normals of…
Like what's been said before, that decal on the right side always sucks my eyes right into it;, I don't think that's what you're intending as your focal point though. I think it's because the decal is at such a high contrast to everything around it, and because we recognize the letter "A" in it, so of course our natural…
@Shuaws I am curious how other users are going to built it too. considering CIG made this environment very poly heavy and used tileable textures that is probably how I am going to approach it. I noticed they do stuff like make individual panels for the wall sections which have chamfered edges on the LP :| I would typically…
PogoP, that's looking pretty nice. Even if you are only using 1x128 you still have a lot of space available. As Baddcog says, the main thing that jumps out is the pixellation on the landing pad decal. If you know what the colour the decal is going to be used against, you can still include aliased edges with your decal,…
Currently working on a nier automata piece. My process starts with thumbs to get a feel for composition. I'm on values stage at the moment. I chose the landscape shot because it captures the story I want to tell with the decaying structures. The portrait one was quite nice, but it emphasized the character more than the…
It's kinda cool to watch everything you loved as a kid slowly decay and die before you do [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDCjIjsZp_Y[/ame] Remember when Lucas Arts was fighting Blizzard as the top computer game developer so many years ago? WTF happened?
The broken railing and the olive (as opposed to green) foliage really helped give the original a sense of age & decay. The fence over the waterfall took it further, implying that the current users didn't even bother to match the skill of the builders, and instead just threw up something that would work 'well enough'.
