Okay so, resetting the "userPrefs" file is currently the only solution to this. Its suspected that older versions of Maya preferences (like Maya 2014, when I'm currently running Maya 2015 but still have 2014 installed) sometimes mistakenly get loaded, but Autodesk is not officially acknowledging this as a bug yet.
