yeah, bringing iPad is not a bad idea, although it's quite likely that they will simply display your online portfolio on their screen. Only show sketchbooks if it has art in it that's relevant to gamedev and only if that art is at least as good as online stuff. I believe Crunchcast had a great episode on gamedev job…
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/190895/ Just randomly saw this. This was dated two months before the Examiner's "developers make too much" piece. Don't know if this was mentioned in any threads before. Gamasutra article used 2012 Gamedev mag data while the Examiner used 2011's. There's actually a dip n the survey…
@Neox, I agree. Ideally speaking, studio experience is a better situation and environment to start one's career. I have seven years of studio gamedev experience and one year of simdev on-site work. If status salary or career highlights is my priority today yeah for sure I'd still be in an office doing the same old crunch…
Hi, Currently looking to start work immediately. https://www.artstation.com/markvano Can provide AAA level assets for gamedev and can work with environments too, lots of experience with ue Address the brochure for a list of services:
simply more distractions from the Epstein files. They're panicking now, apply more pressure but yea it's not great. Itch.io seems to have also been hit, dozens (hundreds? thousands?) of games deleted https://itch.io/t/5119460/adult-and-erotic-tags-games-gone…
Kenney, known as Asset Jesus, is a wonderful artist. This is a gallery of his amazing work. A little more about him and his support for free and open-source art in the indie gamedev scene: http://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/2z0tys/publishing_free_game_assets_can_lead_to_great/ http://kenney.nl/ If you like, donate or…
Tom Sloper spends lots of time on Gamedev, he's such an asshole but really knows his stuff. If you have any business question, check his site, then you can ask on the Business forum on Gamedev... just make sure its not a dumb question and don't argue with him Ben, I for one find the polycount Wiki unmanagable due to its…
It isn't really about being a "gamedev". There are tons of "gamedevs" at siggraph. But they're mostly graphics programmers and technical artists. It isn't, and never has been, targeted at artists. I'm surprised that you're surprised by this. I thought this year was one of the worse ones though to be honest, and I didn't…
Hello Everyone, my name is emubi. I'm full-time freelance Illustrator. My main skills are 2D Illustration and character concept arts. I do have some experience regarding 3D on blender, also I'm ex-gamedev so I'm open for making 2D assets for UI or props too!. I'm open to short and long term project! here's some samples of…
Somehow 3d soft devs never understood gamedev which is half of all CG if not more. They basically cut off a half of their potential market share. It took more than decade for Blender too. I recall one of Blender devs asked at blenderartists : "Why you all need this normal editing when Blender does it automatically". I was…
