intresting discussion. I know this off-topic and I don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but its more of a curiocity question than anything else...peace to all etc ect . Anyway how is the general art of the UI done, oviously the functuality is coded or scripted but what software is the art done in? think I remember seeing flash…
perhaps Flash? has at least the big advantage of showing your game directly online or beeing able to publish it as standalone application. Even for Flash there are some ready made engines though from a personal point of view i´d rather would advise learning to script yourself. I have written myself already alot of…
Of course they're whiners, it's a soap! Once you accept that, it's not even bad for a soap. And Galactica was quite biblical when it first was concepted. It was supposed to be about a rich guy named Adam and his spaceship filled with the best of humanity, flying off (earth was dying) to find a new planet, and fight the…
Yeah they have like a Thursday to Tuesday night 100 hour week schedule when they are in production. They are also one of the only scripted shows that are nonunion. So the writers strike didn't affect them. They also get 3 months off or something like that though in between seasons. I'm assuming it's like most shows around…
The resolution controls what you can display horizontally, but you can go nuts vertically. It's possible to design a site so that as you add more information, images, etc. the framework of the site will stretch to accommodate this new information. This is most useful if you're displaying images without resorting to java…
I liked how the main old guy was done but the younger character didn't look at all related like it was in the wrong movie. The style between them was totally different (and understandable). I mirror what mop said about the animation and story line. I was totally confused but it shows the power of effort. Shame they…
I would probably go with option A. using this script for the rocks. Then bake those suckers out normal + AO + an alpha of only the rocks. Finally paint the diffuse(and spec?) colors in PS using the alpha texture to help with selection/masking, rather than using a photo based approach. EDIT: Or you could use photos and the…
I haven't made any production art in about a year and a half now. Been doing nothing but scripting on slot machine games. But I still get emails from game studios, looking to hire. As others have said, as long as you keep up with things, there's always a way back in. If anything, doing something a bit more expanded will…
I would search for ref on ship wrecks. If you look for flood damage you'll get pics of places where the water receded. Normally mold takes over and there are water marks/stains all over. Not going to get a lot of that if the place stays submerged. And search for post apocalyptic cityscape then apply ship wreck ref. Neil…
Shadows - yeah, that's pretty much what I'd be doing with Array. The only problem with that is that the original object doesn't stay editable, since they're all attached. If I wanted to change the width/height/shape of one of the inset areas, I'd have to delete all the other parts and Array it again. It seems that using a…
