I always liked max (I'm still on 2009) more but few days ago I downloaded maya 2014 trial and have to say it's growing on me pretty fast. With some customization and few small scripts workflow is really smooth. I might pull a trigger on it to be honest. Was going to upgrade max but I'm not so sure anymore.
Yea, I agree Autocon. I posted the link in my school's gaming group on Facebook. Ton of good info..need to watch it again, a few technical tips to write down. Its cool that you guys compose your scenes in maya and have a script that can convert it to what the game engine needs. Smoother art pipeline, and workflow.
IIRC Max was like a week or two after having used Maya for years. Modo on the other hand was extremely frustrating for the first few days. I had to tear Modo apart and put it back together the way I wanted it to be hotkeys/menus/scripts before I was comfortable and functioning at 100%. That took maybe a month, it was worth…
here ya go. though that isn't fun to have to do every time, if no one else suggest anything i would say go to your documents folder and delete your maya prefs folder, on program launch it will recreate all with defaults, probably should pull out your scripts folder though, then put it back after relaunching
The issue with that is that it's a depth sorting back to front script, and while it might work for simple shelled hair working from the inside out, it won't necessarily work for a hair object when you are rotating the object around in the viewport (unless I'm missing something?). I'd quite like something like this: Link to…
Thanks for updating the installer with the ratGPU.mel script file. It's working great now from within Maya 2012. I've noticed a few things thou. It doesn't support Nurbs models properly. Soft smoothing for polygons is not supported. And finally, how do I use ratGPU to render animations in Maya? Maya Batch doesn't seem to…
It was a great game to watch! Congrats to the Saints! The on-side kick was insane and you couldn't script a better play than that interception returned for a 75 yard touchdown. Everyone at the Superbowl party I was at wanted to see Peyton Manning cry. As for ads, the winner is definitely the Doritos commercials, those were…
Did you transfer across settings from a previous version of maya? If so, try getting rid of them and then just importing the scripts and whatever else it is in partcular you are after. Apparently it's somes specific files that causes this problem, not sure which but I've heard it doesn't seem to be something you need to…
dont let douche bag (aka christian bale) touch the script again and it might actually be good.... http://www.chud.com/articles/articles/19577/1/EXCLUSIVE-WHAT-WENT-WRONG-WITH-TERMINATOR-SALVATION/Page1.html (its quite the read) though, i did find salvation decent interms of action. just horrible horrible story.
Pior's site is great. He has a megaton of work so it's probably best to set it up with a page for each piece. I've overhauled my site about 4 times in the past year. I think I've finally gotten it to a point where I like it and I don't have to use flash, scripts or much else. www.environmentartist.com
