Re: Combining UV/ maps into ONE texture map
You can bake the original meshes to a combined mesh with rearanged UV's in maya pretty easily. Simply load in your colour textures and what not in a material to the original mesh. And do a transfer maps. Should be able to do this in any app that lets your transfer maps/bake textures from a source to a different target.… -

I didn't know you could use the playblast method with render layers, if you can I guess it saves a little time fiddling with the contour shader settings. ok so first of all you take the high poly model and go to colour>batchbake> options box. Set the colour mode to Occlusion and fill texture seams to 3, change the resolution too. When this is finshed baking it automatically assigns it to the incandesence channel so break that connection and assign it to the diffuse channel.… -

I disagree, r_fletch_r: it can be a super speedy way to do --certain-- things if you know what you're doing ...and it gets you a *pixel perfect* match for a diffuse(unlike a lot of the grayscale height-to-normal conversion tools, which create a halo).
