Rock sculpt from last night, thought that I might as well make make a low poly version and bake some maps for practice. Relatively happy with the result, although I do need to look into applying a more realistic diffuse texture to the rock. @robertg Thanks for the kind words man.
Are they currently one material? Have you tried defining the two rock parts, and the glass type material as two different materials within a multi-material? So one material will applied to the rock using normal parameters, while the other material will be applied to the glass type material and us the alpha settings.
Don't know if this thread is still active. hi, can anyone help me with texture effects around the rock/grass thingy at the top of the waterfall(i.e the foam effects of the water going around it) in OP's post? i am trying to create a river scene with some rocks in it and i need this effect for it.
Its not his models, says so in the beginning of the video.. He is showcasing his animation. Anyway! Great work, I'm not really good enough at animating to really spot the minute things we might be out in at this point. Although, when the cyclops lifts the big rock, the rock kinda stutters unusually.
Got Galaxy, it's incredible. Non-stop fun. I want Mass Effect and Rock Band, but lack the systems for them. Plus, Rock Band got a WTFAREYOUSHITTINGME delay in Canada. I'd be tempted to cross the border and get it in the US if I had a 360/PS3 though. Trying to convince my friends to...
good idea bout the sparkle f/x val, worked on a prototype of how i want to do the rocks, may not be the final style. this pic is just one rock cloned a lot, in game it would be much more varried. more liek teh view of the game
The poop looking rock turned out great! I like the details in the texture, really sell it as being 'rock'. Nice thread with lots of inspiration. The brick wall tri count seems fairly high at first glance, but that may be the price you pay for its silhouette.
How about using a 3d procedural texture, and baking from your lowpoly rock geometry into a normal map? This way the noise has no seams, and it's converted into the proper normal map colors to match the rock's normals. Then you can blend it into the high-poly sculpt map.
Personally, I'm not liking the tone of the rock much, a bit too dark. Maybe a lighter grey, or a light beige? You can also try to use 2 types of rock to get some variety in there. like such, or like having the detailed panels etc in a different color.
I look forward to seeing this. I'm no movie critic, though....I pretty much like everything. The Governator passed the torch to The Rock in "The Rundown". The Rock IS the new Arnie! Personally, I think he does as good of a job as Arnie did in the same kind of setting.
