yeah it looks really usefull. shame you cant just drag and blender works out the most likely translation vector for you. Still cool tho. my personal favourite so far has been the new handles on the transform gizmo. I missed being able to translate across the dominant planes so much. (coming from max/maya.)
@LuisCherubini Nice find. Just donated. You're right about the kitbash kits. I got an email from Furio Tedeschi asking if it was OK to use my Zbrush IMM Armour brush on concept work he was doing for the Transformers 5 film. If Furio can kitbash other peoples' models then anyone can! :D As for the bevels on these models,…
I am not able to replicate this disc brake material in another file (on a different mesh). I tried copy pasting the material from file 1, still the same results. recreated the material, Uv - project from view, tried the material on a cylinder, nothing works. On the Cylinder, the spherical gradient appears on the side…
hah testing in 2.79 is next on my plate - im curios whats up there, from the release notes not much should have changed api wise.. but who knows :) yes the incremental snapping should work just fine - well if it works with the custom transform orientations then it should work, because I'm just setting constraints on the…
@Justo 1. You can cycle through different transformation orientations by pressing the desired axis more than once. 2. Setting up a custom transformation orientation can help you moving, scaling and rotating things consistently in arbitrary angles of the object. 3. With creasing parts of the mesh it can be achieved, yes. 5.…
@thomasp You're looking for the UVWarp modifier. It compares the transformations of two dummy objects and applies the difference to your UVs. For example, cubeA and cubeB have the same base UVs here, but cubeA's are being modified by the difference between planeA and planeC, and cubeB's are being modified by the difference…
that quote is funny as hell, i really don't get why so many think just having widgetless transformations means it's all of a sudden a hundred times more efficient than other packages. i started on blender, so know all the important keys, and know my way around and the app, and still find maya, and modo to be much more…
cheers @pior ! Thx for writing. I did solve my issue by writing a small tool which does simply clone the selected bones of my source armature into a target armature and applying rotation constraints automatically. Another topic. Is there a more direct (aka max-like) way of editing the pivot of an object? I find it super…
Coming from Max and being completely new to blender, are there any settings that will make life easier for me? I just started with a basic 2.8 tutorial and it bothers me that selecting transformation tools using the default hotkeys involves so many button presses. I'm a bit hesitant to go changing a lot of stuff without…
@copenhagenjazz you are not missing any dark magic, at least to my knowledge. Edge constraint is something that is missing from Blender and I ran into it multiple times myself. All workarounds I have found so far consisted of setting up a custom transform, either with the settings in the top of the 3D viewport or just the…
