I wonder how easy it'd be to edit the code and make just the loop cut as an active tool or shortcut driven instead of click and hold. I do agree this type of interaction is clunky.
Pior, when converting edge loop to curve, Max is asking smooth or linear but Blender convert only in a linear way Thanks a lot Okidoki. This is what i was looking for. I converted to bezier and it worked fine :)
How do I activate the Loop Cut and Slide tool through python? bpy.ops.mesh.loopcut_slide() doesn't seem to do the trick because it needs parameters, and the line found in the docs doesn't work either :L
@guitarguy00 1 No. There are hacks to do it, I think, but I haven't looked into it. 2 Not built in, but there is a free addon 3 I don't think it's possible 4 No, but you can loop cut and bevel for the same..
I have a script that does it, but I'll have to check what it's called. I'll edit and tag you when I do! @PolyHertz https://sourceforge.net/p/blenderbitsbobs/wiki/Zaloopok/ I believe I used to use Ktools for it, so that's another option. I've set mine up so that ctrl-mousewheel grows loops, ctrl-alt-mousewheel grows rings,…
OK, it also hhas Loop Regularize, Bridging and curve and... Honestly...are you guys sure this program is free? I find it hard to believe Blender has next gen workflow and Autodesk products yet don't...
@Prime8 Correct, the goal would be the second image from my first post. Afaik the only way to get as perfect a result as that is to add more loops/cut new UV shells dividing the flat areas.
Thanks for that. Offset edge slide seems quickest, still have to delete the middle loop afterwards though but decent workaround. Hard to believe no pinch function exists after so many iterations of Blender though :(
For applying properties to multiple objects you can also right click some properties and pick "apply to selected." There's no "proper" target weld but you can use Alt+M to merge vertices or if you need to weld lots you can activate vertex snapping and use right click and drag tweaking to move vertices onto each other, then…
WOW THIS SMOKE SIMULATION STUFF IS AWESOME! If I could only do one click baking instead of having to play the animation through, however... that'd be nice. Trying to create a 8 frame looped fire with it is hard.
