Thanks i know there are a lot of ways around this. But still: Not being able to quickly and consistently subdividing parts of your mesh can be a real pain. It might be more of a problem for all quad vfx style modelling, but i will open a ticket just to raise awareness.
Not necessarily related to Blender, but now we have a better free (and open-source) remesher alternative: https://github.com/wjakob/instant-meshes The results are much better than Blender's default remesher, and I guess the developers are in need of some good feedback :D.
It's good to hear that it's working well for you, Pior. Blond, this tutorial may be of interest to you as far as the scripting goes. https://cgcookie.com/blender/2013/07/12/creating-custom-toolbar-panel-python-scripting/ As for managing lots of objects you have a few options. If you want to save a set of vertices to be…
Latest Blender movie's out. Focus of this one was largely on compositing, green screen keying, and and motion tracking. 2.64 will be along shortly as well. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6MlUcmOul8"]Tears of Steel - Blender Foundation's fourth short Open Movie - YouTube[/ame]
Let's take a look around first and not be rude for nothing : The Blender Fundation has already produce several short open movies with Blender (Big Buck Bunny, Sinte, Caminandes,...) The tools produced during the open movies truly improved Blender. But those projects are limited, games and movies take now more than several…
Ok @pior I am starting to understand your frustrations with "sluggish" controls. But I don't have a problem with the selection, but instead with the mode change in the tab key. That now is also on release. And if you happen to move the mouse while having it pressed, it opens a pie menu instead.
What you wrote above is that the mesh reimports with a different name. So from the description its alembic not blender. I dont have it open right now but I know the export setting gives you the option to 'export as' and it sounds like a duplicate name in the export sets dialog.
The first thing I did was change the behavior of the right and left mouse button. Then I mapped the 3d Cursor to ctrl+shift+right click. Since I almost never use it this isn't as awkward as it might sound. Then I used my newly liberated right click to act as a hotkey for opening the Mesh Select Mode menu. I've attached an…
Is someone using Blender with Maya? I am trying to make a MEL script which is importing a FBX file that is stored in a particular folder. Should be a one click solution without opening the import Dialog. I know it's not really Blender related. But maybe someone has something like this to hand.
@Justo Actually the newest Blender versions (2.90+) also support Intel Open Image Denoiser. It is not quite as fast a OptiX, but still better than the Non-ML NLM denoiser. https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/render/cycles/render_settings/sampling.html#render-cycles-settings-viewport-denoising
