I did this about 4 months ago in my second semester of school. It turned out alright, the normal map is a messed up because I was really new to game engines then :) It goes low poly, high poly, and base texture, then my first render in Marmoset
Thanks :) It's not 100% done yet though (still tweaking textures). The engine it's for is from 2004, so it handles things really wonky and I have to blow out shit for it to show up properly. Right now it's using diff/spec/lum/bump (doesn't support norms).
This is looking pretty stylised at the moment. Man hair is hard to do. I think i'll work in some photosource for use in the spec and stuff, should help a bit. Also going to put some alpha'd planes for wild bits. Any suggestions would be sick though. ArmaII engine
Hatred, I was on your site like as late as 2 or 3 days ago :O (still just said "under development"). Awesome to see it back online! Hmm see you have adopted the UE3, being part of EG now. What happened to the PAIN engine? Sold?
The teeth on those random gears are like, so small it'd render a weapon totally prone to failure and ridiculously difficult to make... Plus, they'll just turn to noise at any reasonable distance from the camera. I suggest upping the scale of the teeth. Anyway, the arma2 engine is actually really nice to make previews in
Thats actually the worst way of doing shaded wireframe shots...considering this is a game-artist board, the best way might be doing a screenshot with a realtime shader or from an engine...if you insist on rendering it, use a composite material (3ds Max) with a wire Material in the second slot...no need for a copy of the…
laTarm, that looks really cool. I like it! The cardboard steps look especially nice. Is that in a game engine? Only crit I have is the window glass looks a bit flat. Could use something, maybe change the colour a bit? I can't put my finger on it. Beginnings of a new environment, started today, UDK:
i recognize the map!! DM-Deck from the Unreal serie!! :poly124: but you destroyed some of the fun of the game with just showing white lines.... the shader in the game engine is so amazing for realtime rendering BTW, here is my work (not even near completion): as you see, my model is a G36C... my second model im doing in my…
Been working on a game engine for my school practicum (final project). Just getting phsyx integration completed. Still have lots of work to do: Shadows, Audio, Particles, GUI, among other things. Decided to play around with metal objects and a greentooth helmet mesh that was passed along to me.…
Thanks for the comments guys. Mladen: Yes, the render was done in Modo. The render engine is pretty intuitive to use and all the features are well-documented in the help files, so you can learn it pretty quickly. It helps a lot if you're already familiar with Modo more generally. Zwebbie: Great texture work on Dorothy. Her…
