A friend of mine sent this to me a few days ago (left) my attempt is on the right. It's basically an object with three sides sliced off in a circular fashion (A), the smaller sections (C) are pretty easy I think . After spending several hours and various approaches i decided to post here. Any take on how to subD model this…
I dont see any reason to be limiting like that, the overall purpose is to improve workflow. Weather that means learning to model complex shapes, or learning tricks to get around going overly complex with your meshes. At the end of the day, you do what works best, and throughout the corse of the model that may be many…
Well I think all that you have said are very viable points! Though I am not sure you directly answered my question. When modeling something in like the doors of a helicopter, that need to be functional... Do you start with tons of geometry and spend all day moving vertices? Or are there other methods for cutting holes into…
floaters are software independent. Max has no special handling in their regard. They are just regular geometry and pretty much any baker can bake them to a normal/AO. only thing to note is to turn off backfaces so they don't cast shadows around the edges for AO bakes. I don't expect many people to be baking inside of max…
rorrororo btw.. here is a video that i did yesterday. it shows how i am doing my hardeges now a day. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/93793/Bevel.avi i make the baseshape and then i bevel the edges with a added segment between the edges, so i can quadify it :) looks nice :) that other mesh on P&P. the other lego pieces. was made…
Out of the box, 3dsmax doesn't make a "Quadsphere". But there are a few scripts that enable you to make them. http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/quadsphere http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/quad-primitives http://www.polytools3d.com/tools/quadsphere/ At the end of the day you really don't need a script, just…
No no, I got that (the other day I had to calculate these intersection lines at uni). Yeh, I am not lookingfor a 100% planar sollution. I just thought there is a quicker method than plain vertex pushing or modellign it over again with edge extrusion, to get it somewhat planar and well aligned. I turned on turbosmooth and…
Hey guys! Been reading the forums here for awhile, really great site! This is my first post, Anyways, I'm Having some pinching issues with this here shape, Been trying to figure it out for the past few days, to no avail.:poly122: The model file.…
Wow, these welded parts on the second screen are pretty cool ! Can you tell us more about the technique ? is this a brush with alpha in ZBrush etc. because it looks really cool and i'll have to do some 3d welding in few days :D Edit : yups sorry, i found the tutorial on bitmap's website ;) Here's the url for guys who need…
Hey guys! I've been looking around for things to model as practice and I was modelling a shelf the other day and came upon this detailed handle. I live in Portugal and all around me are these antique looking, extremely detailed objects, with carvings. This one is just a moderate example of it but I looked at the shape and…
