Also relayed, miauu makes an excellent workplane script for Max: http://miauumaxscript.blogspot.com/p/commercial-scripts.html Coming from Modo, this was a huge help. Once you get used to working with a work plane, it's hard to stop.
See your progress and in this case i would just use the shapes of the car to my advantage by extracting polygons of the door area, but first you have to cuttin that door shape, then you can extract and give strips of polys some thickness using extrude functions... for the circle, if you want perfect match just take a…
^ Yeah, that script is quite helpful. The weld lines it creates aren't very realistic, the splines it creates along intersecting meshes can be used though (I sculpted just them to add a welded look to a model made with subD)
I often work with concept artists that start with 3D as a base. They push, pull, drag and deform their blockout meshes like crazy. I want to use these meshes, but they have a metric ton of these shapes. My solution: Use a script that can set a face to be planar from a whole selection of faces. Bind this to a key you can…
Dropbox can be a lifesaver, i put almost every script and stuff i have in there and have it on every one of my pc´s. And for now it may seem overkill for one picture, but i´m almost sure that there are more to come.
You can use Weighted Normals to fix that. You can also add some more geo, but i would go with Weighted normals, check it out: More info and script in here: http://www.bytehazard.com/articles/wnormals.html Cheers!
@respawn, if that dodecahedron isn't perfectly spherical, you can subdivide a sphere, then scale the dodecahedron up inside the sphere (which is on the background layer) with constrain to background turned on. Senecas script package also has a spherize script I believe, can't check at the moment due to pc trouble (ssd…
oh man, good idea ivars! I just made a quick and simple script to do this in maya if anyone thinks they'd find it useful, grab it here [edit: I was dumb and had a messed up link :P Fixed now]
Hello there I'm trying to create a script to do a shell modifier without the backface. are there any easier solution for doing that? the edge extrude doesn't do the same thing as shell, nor the push modifier or anything I've tried, maybe I'm wrong.
http://polycount.com/discussion/174639/polyhertzs-3dsmax-script-quick-high-poly pretty hyped for that! what do you guys think? I know this thread is just for shape questions, but i want to let you know that maybe something is coming up.
