Hi everybody. I need to make hole on this shape. The density of vertices is uneven which makes difficulties for making holes. I'm creating verticies by dividing polygons, but that makes artifacts. Is there any suggestion for this problem ? Do i need more topology, or this is enough?
Looks like polygonal output from a patch or nurbs model. It wasn't made with a sub-d workflow. Awesome examples perna! Wish I had the time to make a good wiki page out of this thread, so many great tips in here.
@dm3d You are already beveling the outer ring on this object, why not bevel the fanning edges as well instead of pinching them? You can use less polygons this way and you probably do not even need to subdivide, as it will give pretty good results.
Hi there, I have a (probably a classic one) topology problem where when doing subdv., I get too high concentration of polygons into one end. I'm trying to prepare this for sculpting, but I though to ask if someone could find another solution for getting this mesh into more even quads. How could I avoid this concentration…
ProBoolean has a quadrify result option built in (always use it over regular boolean anyways since it's a bit cleaner and works better with multiple objects anyways). I haven't done low poly text in a while, but IIRC, in Max, my ultimate solution was to do this: Text to spline extrude the text spline. select the "side"…
Maybe I am taking the concept to literally, but I kinda like the way it looks now and I am planning to keep the edge clean so I don't think the polygon flow will matter since I wont add any detail on that curve.
First you do this: [vv]1496428[/vv] then you do this: 1 - icosahedron 2 - chamfer all vertices 3 - chamfer all vertices 4 - remove all polygons except the pentagons 5 - weld/collapse all the corner/triangle vertices MAGIC!
Just create the base with a high amount of segments. Try it with 72 sements, this will give you 4 polygon-rows per spike. This amount of edges should be enough to create this cogwheel without any support-loops. There is no need to create a lot of support loops manually.
@EarthQuake I think your images have broken links. Your dropbox links dont show up for me. @HellishBaroness Think about the edge flow of the actual object. I dont mean the edge flow of your mesh or a 3d term. Once you figure out the flow of the edges of your subject, you can plan out how and where to place your…
I need something like this I am not satisfied with the effect, this "edge" it disappears too quickly, it should go all the way to the top. Yes I sometime use crease edge, but I look like it needs high subD lvl for very tight bevel, and works best with equal polygon size, maybe i am wrong. I still trying make good topology…
