The model and normals are pretty sweet, Ruz, but I don't like the diffuse or spec (do you even have one?) at all. They hardly seem to be doing anything, and he's got an almost cartoonish flat color look everywhere.
Dang Cholden, that metal is really convincing in it's material type. I really like the combo of normal/spec/color you have going on. Any chance you could post the flats? I'm especially interested in your specular map.
[ QUOTE ] if anyone fancys doing a quick tag this weekend give me a shout (we each draw a flat, then model using the others texture) could be fun! [/ QUOTE ] Great idea. Potentially worthy of a Concept Tag-esque thread?
Mark this day red in your calendar folks, cheapy didn't build a gargoyle (with a wang) Although, technically it is pretty damn close to a gargoyle But really nice work, it's a perfect representation of the mascot in 3D. Just the 'hands' seem to be a bit flat.
[ QUOTE ] Something about it is just totally, proportionally wrong, and he looks way too static, but what should I do to fix that? [/ QUOTE ] Change the skirt to something that's less flat? Like pants with a sash around the side or something...
[ QUOTE ] Awesome work RobG, would you mind showing your texture flats and also sharing abit more about your rendering technique? [/ QUOTE ] i'd like to second that. a look into your workflow would be really awesome.
Here are the wires. Its not completely optimized / bit messy in places but thos 5200faces are totally in the limit. Ill have to show you the flats later cause i finished the texture at work.. no accesso at the momento glad you like him. Cheers
[ QUOTE ] finished the geometry. Now for more rigging. [/ QUOTE ] Add some extra edges and folds to the cloth on her face, it looks bad to have those awesome smooth lips and nice nose and then a harsh flat peice fo cloth over it.
[ QUOTE ] RobG get a thread.. stop making me hunt to see this stuff! [/ QUOTE ] I second that Annnnd. Thanks for posting the "flats", definitely a different approach..but the results are amazing. Not exactly sure how you avoided stretching, but it's still badass.
Thanks! I'll post the flats as soon as the baking works. I'm trying to render the texture at 85% self-illumination for some subtle shadows on them, but somehow all I get after clicking the render-to-texture button is gray... It's driving me mad
