Thought I'd drop in this thread. All done with Substance. Only things none procedural are drip marks on column, and the image on the banner. Waviness on Banner, all tiles and brick and wood are all procedural.
Started working on Substance Designer for a while. Definitely liking it so far. Here's what I've been working on, mainly done through one base texture on both the brick wall and the floor tile.
@cgvinny Just got back from CNY and saw your eye posts, this is looking AMAZING. Keep up the awesome work! @Shriken Loving your bricks! What all can you control?
I think it's because they can't fit all blend modes into their "atomic" nodes as quick, simple, single tick instructions. Some blend modes actually have IF conditions in them (like overlay). That said, their overlay is pretty complex and slow. I made a cheaper one that looks 99% the same. I'll see if i can share it. Nice!…
Did some more experimenting with the distance node and here's what I've got now as my base brick pattern. Really happy with how ordered yet chaotic this is https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2126504/Chaotic_Brick.sbs
Is the licensing the biggest issue with Blender integration? Also, has anyone done something like substance smart tiles in UE4? I'd like to be able to create a brick substance and apply it to large brushes without repeated tiling.
I ran into this before... I'll try to remember what it was and post. I decided to push it as a gravelly road before going back to sloppy brick. Love this about SD - you can just grab the graph and reuse.
So I have started playing with Substance around 2 weeks back, looking at the awesome results, and some really nice tutorials, I thought of giving it a shot for a brick wall with excess mortar, here you go :
Ok. Back on topic I decided to make something more challenging than bricks. Rough wood textures: I haven't yet figured out which parameters to expose. But hey, it's still better than zbrush + photoshop :D.
How would guy approach creating this type of stone wall ? I've been sitting on it for few hours already, and can't figure out anything. I'm not taking about depth even, but just about very irregular shape of bricks.
