@TDub: I love it! Looks amazing! @steve0: Really nice rock! I also like you whole scene, good job! I made this rock. I haven't done many rocks before so I could definitely use some pointers from you guys. I wanted to test some things in zbrush, mainly zremesher. For this rock I think it worked alright. I did however test…
I posted this in WAYWO but figured it belonged here among rock enthusiasts. I got the base shape in Zbrush, retopology it quite low, then went to town in photoshop, used photoshops 3d painting feature to mask all the seams between the UV's.
Hello there! Been following this thread for a long time now and it just occurred to me that I have worked on some rocks of my own. These were for a stylized student project. Zbrush Sculpt: Marmoset Render: In engine: https://www.artstation.com/artist/gubble
brand new zbrush user, a year or two into maya and years in Vue. Wanting to do environmental modelling and you guys are inspiring, thank you. Will be adding my own as I learn. may not be very good for awhile but will get there :) Cheers, Scott
Thanks Sebvhe, I've actually followed that tutorial already and came up with this guy: It was a lot of fun, and I plan on making more realistic ones in the future. I will try to incorporate Zbrush the next time around. Such a confusing interface though, compared to everything else!
The digital tutors UE4 rock pipeline has a couple interesting techniques in Zbrush that aren't in other Rock tutorials. Was kind of neat. Don't really like my sculpts shape. Anyways, just followed the texturing portion from that tutorial to get into and learn Ue4.
Hey Jonas, a classic high poly/retopo/texturing worklow (what I meant is more: no photogrammetry or scan things). 3ds Max/zBrush for the high and low poly, then Substance Designer to create a base "rock" material and I used Substance Painter for the final texturing .
Here are some sculpts I did a while ago. These were intended to be used as tileable elements. Polypaint over a brown MatCap. I need to take the time to redo the lowpolys, because these ended looking like giant turds in engine. Screen grabs inside Zbrush.
@AGD Your rocks are DOPE ! I haven't seen that great in ages ! (well... still a lot of other Awesome stuff here too!) Can you share about your process ? (full zbrush ? what king of brushes did you used at first/at the end?... etc )
