@Fewes, I have had trouble making "feature-less" rocks, but recently I've been finding my sculpts look alot better and rockier/easier to make by making multiple subobjects/subtools of basic rock shapes, scaling/rotating/positioning them together in zbrush until there's some interesting forms happening, and then dynameshing…
Too long since I've attempted sculpting a rock. Clicked the first time I had a go at it again surprisingly. Workflows thanks to Strkl and my instructor Jason.
@Jonas Ronnegard: these are great. How do you get the rocks looking like they are made up of pieces? Are they made of seperate subtools or is it one mesh that you've sculpted the cracks in?
Paint over my sculpt? In Zbrush? No. I took grabdocs of different shaders and overlayed them to get a cool base diffuse, then did minor hand painted tweaks in Photoshop.
I would look more on texturing pass, than the sculpting. Becuase he's propably using tools as armykillswitch mention. Texturing is still mystery to solve here :D :D
Uploading some rocks I made a while ago for a game project. Sculpted them in Mudbox and then threw them into 3DCoat for retopo. Also made some lava fields too:
Hey guys just wanted to share my first rock, I sculpted it in zbrush and textured it in substance painter, minor photoshop tweaks. This is the same rock but I textured it twice.
Just wrapped up this rock set I've been at for quite some time now =D More shots including sculpts can be found here https://www.artstation.com/artwork/g2YyDE
