OK, so the level is of a mountainous landscape which feature old WW2 bunkers which have been abandoned by the original occupants. Some tribal people found them and have moved in so the bunkers will have colourful flags and banners on them. I am using as much of Unity out of the box as possible and modelling assets in Maya. -

My guess is that when you exported the meshes they weren't ocupying the same space -- in other words, they were not inside each other; or they were, but the low poly was not covering the high poly in those… -
