Hey everyone! Thought I'd share a work i made lately hope you will like it. Sculpted in Zbrush and Maya, texturing was done in Substance Painter, Xgen was used for hair, Rendered in Arnold. Artstation link if you want more :) - https://www.artstation.com/artwork/8lmn26
Thank you guys for pointing me in the right direction, I forgot to mention Im a Maya user, and searching a bit further into Arnold as suggested, I've found the utility to do just as described above. Many thanks! -Mike
Cassowary assets modeled in Maya & I did some sculpting in Zbrush,Mari for the texturing ,I used software maya Xgen and Fibermesh for groom , Rendered in Arnold also did some wip composting in Nuke & Photoshop. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/QzA5Zr https://www.zbrushcentral.com/t/cassowary/367819
Hi everyone! This is my first post here where i show a 3d model i made. it's based in the Bolter/Plasma Gun of Azrael (dark angels/warhammer 40k) I challenge myself to made al shaders with nodes of Arnold render, so all the textures are procedural.
Sorry for that. I meant using Arnold or Vray with some lighting for rendering as opposed to just using the snipping tool straight out of Zbrush. I'll make some high quality renders from now on. Thanks for the link btw.
This was a speed sculpt that turned into a full blown likeness portrait. It was also an opportunity for me to really dive deep into xGen and get some experience making wavy hair, as well as familiarize myself more with Arnold since I mostly work with real-time rendering. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/9Nqo4o
Arnold's RTT works like any other Baker, you just need to provide it with a target mesh As long as the map defines a direction vector you'll be able to use it for anisotropic highlights in some way. The nature of the map will be determined by the shader you're using.
For such object you don't need Hi poly at all. Just "rounded corners', "bevel" or whatever it may be called shader. Almost evry 3d package or offline renderer has one. Arnold does for example. No cage necessary, no troubles with ray missing .
Mental Ray is obselet, you should just start learning render engine with V-ray, if you're looking for a free one there are plenty available ( Guerrila Render ( <- really great ! ) Clarisse, Renderman ( might be wrong ? ), Arnold with the latest maya, etc ) hf !
Try searching, I commented on a similar thread recently. http://polycount.com/discussion/188226/maya-external-world-rigs-and-rendering-vertex-coloring While not an exact solution, the video i posted shows how to get vertex colors working with arnold.
