Am i the only one who gets really motivated here by seeing great artists enter these things? I'm never in it to win it but i've learned a lot just entering competitions and trying my best. Also the better pc == better art doesn't make much sense since one of my favorite pieces is still that stylized link by damien…
yeah, I did some tests, the fbx its around 17% bigger than the one used ingame, a bunch of files on the requirements page are outdated. https://www.dropbox.com/s/62iq9vhknu3xnrv/Sven01.max?dl=1
I'm getting the same problem if I only transfer normals to the canopy, also with the canopy geo - I imitated the geometry of tree's from World of Warcraft to try and simulate their workflow so I would have thought the geo should be fine unless I screwed up somewhere. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62238920/Tree01.mb…

The total came to $552 USD. Then if you have to…
Ok, if you plan on running UDK a lot I definitely wouldn't go with the HP or Dell with FireGL/Quadro cards. You're going to want a mid-high end Nvidia gaming GPU. The ever-helpful Zbrush guru, Michael Pavlovich just recently uploaded a vid on this very subject. Definitely worth a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=627d4DSsDCY
@tigg, thanks for your advice. I deleted the screw mesh and now they are baked in. It looks now much cleaner and after a while i didn't like these "huge" screws anyway. But here now my current lowpoly mesh. I would love to hear from you what you think. Where are too many and where are to less tris? Also some minor details…

Yeah, it's padding. Use a 30x30/62x62/etc. grid and don't worry about islands touching the edges. The texel density should be consistent then. Azza: he uses channel 0 for both, it's fine if the unwrap is unique.
