Thanks for the feedback, I get what you mean with the feedback on the hand, the palm is sort of too flat. The whole thing is rendered in Mentalray with a simple 3-light setup and some minor color adjustments in Photoshop. Here are closeups on the face. Overdid the pores a bit so they transfer better into the normal and are…
I can't offer any help directly, but I do remember this nifty plugin from Digital Raster that transfers lots of popular Maya controls over to Max. I believe there is a trial that you can check out. It's kind of pricey but you can get a student version for half price and pay the other half later to upgrade to the full…
So for the low poly I'm gonna just have to match it up closer to high poly? That's what I got out of reading Earthquake's Average Normals thread. This is the difference in overall shape I know you can't transfer smoothness from high to low meshes. I'll just have to had more geo to cut down the angular difference?
Hey guys! I've got a question regarding the prizes. Official rules state that prizes are non transferable. But, say, hypothetically, would it possible for a winning entrant to relinquish his claim to the prize and instead have Riot Games make a donation of equal monetary value to a charity organization of this hypothetical…
This is pretty awesome. Any way you could transfer this to Unity or UE though? I feel like that would almost be more useful. Then you could set up prefabs for the pieces and change them very easily. Also there are some asset store stuff you could use for both Unity and UE for decent prices. Pretty awesome tool though! :)
Hey all! Been a while since I last posted. Work has tied me up a bit with another character and other tasks and this project had to take the side lines for a while. Anyways, progress is coming along with the re-topoing with just the inside of his mouth and back plates left. Then UVing and bringing it all back in to ZBrush…
3 Questions: A) If you transferred the source mesh onto a flat plane how did you get the envelope to cover the whole mesh? B) Did you add any edge loops for the flat plane? (for the Target mesh) C) Do you think that the Source Mesh is too tall to get an accurate/good result? (from the base to the furthest face)
FBX is a piece of shit still, I had lots of headaches because of similar stuff. OBJ was the most basic format that worked at least, max, 3ds and FBX usually failed with some error or useless imports. Personally I was once already thinking of transferring files via maxscript and some custom Mesh or Poly parser. Maybe some…
Snowfly that would be awesome if I knew how. Two major issues which come to mind to solve would be making it available to a wide audience. I for one haven't jailbreaked (jailbroke?) my iPhone, so it would have to go on AppStore. Secondly, how would you fetch your data? You'd have to transfer by FTP or something similar I…
I don't know if 3Ds Max is pointless to learn at this point. It has 10x more games related and focused tutorials than Maya ones from what I've seen e.g Digital Tutors, 3D Motive, Eat3D etc. That's a big incentive for those looking to develop for games. Then you can always make the transfer over to Maya if Max should fall.
