I can't speak for Maya specifically, but I started modeling in Max on my Cintiq about a year ago and haven't looked back! I find it much faster and intuitive than a mouse for sure. I think there's value in a more 'pencil-oriented' worflow for artists that are more used to drawing/painting/etc. -

I sometimes have drawings dream where I just see my hand holding a pencil and draw... it's like an FPD dream. oh ye, and i have a lot of doom-like FPS dreams... those tend to be really creepy. I wake up exhausted from all the (shift) running -

But when it came time to put it all together: ... it looked like ass. And now I'm in whatever the art equivalent of writer's block is. I've got a few pencil sketches for new directions but nothing's concrete yet. Which sucks, because, as I mentioned, it pretty much needs to be done real soon now. -

Yeah,id agree with ndcv alot of art galleries don't allow camaras,normally it comes down to good ol' fashions pencil/pen and paper. As for you Daz,well,yes id say an art gallery would be the logical place to find an arty chick....good luck to you sir! . john -

I bought a graphire and an intous 2. The tilt options are very useful for me, and actually had never set them on to something useful on my Intous 2 before until earlier this year, and for me the difference was night and day. Now my tablet behaves more like a pencil or pen would. Alex -

I was gonna Ask the same question here a few days ago because, I wanted to buy an Intous Pen to use with my Bamboo because they look great, and the shape of them are perfect for the way i hold Pencils/Pens but when I found out the pressure sensitivity is in the Pen itself something told me, for the sake of business, and… -

Totally worth it. I think you'll find that most digital artists (including myself) neglect traditional media and wish they had more time to do it. So before you get sucked into the infinite loop of having to learn new software all the god damn time. Use brushes, pencils, crayons, finger painting, macaroni shapes, playdoh,… -

i would really recommend to work in 1:1 ratio and do detail work with the pencil tool. downsampling will always make your texture worse. you might try nearest neighbor option. you have to rework some details, but it stays as crisp as it can stay. ;) or the standard way, with downsampling, then a sharpen filter and use your… -
