It has been a few months since I last fired up Mudbox but if I recall right: the stencil is a fixed plane in screen space that you are free to position, scale and rotate (in 2D) and use to mask your brushwork. It doesn't conform to a surface in the viewport, just hovers in front of it. Snap to curve - that's a brush option…
Thanks heboltz. I actually did the bare minimum with mask1 and mask2, only slight spec and emission for both. Still figuring some stuff out, but you are right, I think I'll revisit the masks and see if I can take full advantage of their potential. Thanks for bringing attention to the presentation as well. I wonder if there…
Thanks for the info marks! Unfortunately there isn't anything about this on the web. I'm almost sure, this is the first article about it. Leleuxart - The "traditional decals" wouldn't allow you to make panel lines, and would be hard to work with. Maybe this new example explains why. Okay so Count Vader asked if I made this…
Heyho, first of all, thanks a lot for all the great improvements, and of course...finally UE4 support! We, at the office, and I myself at home have a blast using the tools! During my latest works I came up with some questions I would like to ask: * Will there be a tutorial in the near future on how to set up the Cross App…
Hey, this seems pretty cool! I don't think it's possible to set up with how the hero textures download now, channels all split up instead of mask1/mask2. Could composite them manually I guess, but it would be cool if there were optional single greyscale texture slots for the various mask elements. edit: or I could just…
Hi everyone, we are looking for someone who can help us bring our game to players and shape how the project is presented and communicated. We are currently working on a mobile arcade game called Gary Getman. The core gameplay and direction are already defined — we are not redesigning the game. What we are looking for is…

I've been working through substance painter at the moment as I am hoping to use it for painting some terrain, the tools and masking seem like something that could work very well for the project I'm working on but of course there are lots of questions flapping around in my head and though it would be better to post a few in…
Hello, I followed Vastra’s advice and my intuition so I changed projects. This one is more intimate, and I focused on composition from the start. It’s simpler, and I’d like to ask for your opinion again. Still Unreal (lot to learn about PCG, thanks for the tutorial of Procedural minds on Youtube) with some da vinvi color…
Decided on a new look however the texturing is really frustrating getting it to look right. Note: Terrorblades maks are really annoying. Mask2 R has the strangest effect on his shade when combined with Mask 2 G + A. I dont have either of those programs.
