There is also the new UV Packmaster which has a free version and is C++ based but installs like any regular addon. I personally won't write a packing algorithm myself as the best way is to write it in a native language for speed and that I see as the responsibility of the Blender Institute to fix. At least we are getting…
Old thread, still an interesting topic @elmirage Because math is not always reversible. Like it's not possible to get back x from y = round(x). Anyhow it should be possible with a fitting algorithm to reconstruct the highpoly. The algorithm would run as many itterations as necessary until the resulting normals from the…
Well, when the Textools addon gets ported to 2.80 then I can see it being a serious option. UDIM support badly needed too. I remember the Roadkill standalone from years back. A lot of unwrap tools ended up with some form of that LCSM algorithm at some stage. I've noticed a Blender branch with using the Slim UVs algorithm…
post hoc ergo propter hoc if you can open a (copy) of a known working project and break it again by opening it that way, that's a bug I'm sure Allegorithmic will want to know about. If not I'd assume it's a coincidence and cosmic rays happened to eat your project last time you saved. I doubt adding .spp to windows…
Been too long since I've updated this. Mostly been working towards getting as much of the low poly modeling done and placed within the Throne Room in UE4. Finally figured out a solid throne and flushed out the story behind the design a bit more. The king is symbolized in the throne room as the Sun. I will be adding on a…
I have been working on getting the major scene props done, starting for some simpler assets and going more complex. I decided to post a quick update of 2 of the more interesting ones I have completed. My workflow went from Zbrush for the Highpoly, Maya for the Lowpoly and texture baking and Substance Painter for textures.…
Hello Polycounters ! To all those living in Montreal :) On September 15th, I am going to give a talk about substance designer and painter for the Montreal Unity User Group (MUUG). This is a free event where I am going to make a quick introduction to PBR in Unity, explain workflows with substance tools and integration in…
Salutations community, This is my first challenge and post of any kind on Polycount. I'm coming out of a long 3D/art hiatus, as this competition seems to be calling to me- thanks Allegorithmic! (Not just because I'm a big Game of Thrones fan) Programs I plan to use - 3ds Max Sculptris Zbrush 4 Photoshop CC 2014 Most…
Lots of roles aren't listed as just "3d artist" As others have said, don't filter by jobs listed by roles named "3D artist". There are not many results, you can just scroll and spot the 3D relevant one by reading the titles. Or use a platform with a better search algorithm like LinkedIn.
I'll respond by point so you can see where I came from. Not saying it's right, just how my thinking was at that time. 1) I imagined those cuts as being the result of using the grip in a hammer fashion on the back of someone's skull. Enough force/tearing to cause cuts across the bottom of the wood grips couple with…
