If it's a 360 degree fixed camera setup, then I recommend the Oculus Go which is $169 USD right now. No external computers or phones needed. The Oculus Go is best for cases where the users don't need positional tracking.

2K should be more than enough for a i7 920 processor, 12 gigs of ram, and a GTX 285, and I'd go for this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160&cm_re=Haf-_-11-119-160-_-Product
I learnt how to digitally paint by having a msn list of awesome artists that liked doing open canvas 1.1 sessions. (networked drawing). Not as viable anymore as there isnt a modern equivelent to the program that likes our modern routers.
yeah, there's hardly anyone online, tons of servers are empty :( . http://archive.gamespy.com/stats/ 3374 players UT2004 162 players UT3 It's sad, but at least the editor and engine are helping people learn the technology for cheaper than licensing the engine :)
Actually the 7900 is pretty close in price to the 8600 seems like they go for like $115-160 on newegg these days, and the 8600 is in the 100-115 range. But honestly, $100 for a dx10 card? Not really what i'de consider all that crappy.
I'm going to take up smoking to pass the time, now that Mr Aidan Spamhuckster has ruined my visual arts career after BURNING OUT MY RETINAS WITH HIS RED TYPE!!!111 Geez. /jzero
Well with substance you can have any resolution texture you want with a tiny download size, 16k no problem. Or we could start seeing better use of detail textures instead of going overboard on resolution.
The non-commercial version of Substance Designer has gone as low as $34 on steam, and $166 for the commercial version. I'd also say Substance designer is more optimized for a commercial environment, a higher price for commercial makes sense.
