That's the nature of using a grid based system (pixels in a texture). If you plan your map sizes for the camera distance your character will be, and use proper UV layout techniques, you should never get close enough to notice it. Very nice and painterly. 16k is tremendously large in terms of poly count though, for any engine -as far as I know. He's small enough that you could probably cut him down to about 4-6k tris. The extra poly counts probably help make him look super aliased for presentation purposes though! Great job! -

Yah, Kendo is right, the Zgrabber tool can be used to do that. I originally did it the other way around tho : ie assign a black to white gradient on the side of the mesh in max, printscreen, and use as an alpha in Zbrush. I guess it's a little less precise (8bit greyscale instead of 16bit if Zgrabbed inside Zbrush) but it… -
