While there's obvious and deliberate Half-Life 2 look to the world (same concept artist and all) I find the characters remind me more of Bioshock Infinite than TF2. And now I really want a single player stealth/assination TF2 game......
@Paul: Thanks man! And they will both be "in game" it wont be one or the other :) So the player can dictate which one they wanna sport. @Pedro: Thanks! I appreciate that. I hate to pry, But any tips or advice? I really like getting picked on :D
Looks pretty cool, but having that small scale texture all over the piece kind of distracts from what you got going on with the eye in the center. I'd try reducing the texture on parts of the weapon to let the player focus on what's important. Keep it up!
@joshmtyler The technique I'm using is simply placing foliage cards along a previously sculpted landscape really. I place them further back as I go, to give a sense of depth, and as the player moves around the scene. Super simple, yet very efficient!
There are 32 NFL teams. Rosters are 53 players per team. 1696 NFL Roster positions. I don't think it's a very far stretch to think there is a comparable level of positions open between Character Artists, and the NFL. And yeah, I'm not counting generalists. :P
Its about making a quick buck. Preying on the nostalgia of players. Just happens that us ps1 gamers chose the wrong games to turn a quick remake buck on >_>. They can prob cut a lot of corners remaking the game. But its probably not profitable enough grr.
Here is a WIP. I'm currently working on the skin in mudbox (thats why his upper body is lighter then his knees). I also have to fill a hole in his belt. 7MB, you'll need the unity player : http://shaunlarkin.com/unity/orc/ thanks!
I saw a TED talk where they said that number was actually from a study from people who were in about the top 10 in their field in the world. They said it related to being one of the top chess players in the world and that high proficiency comes much easier.
That looks fantastic. I agree that maybe you have left some areas sparse of detail - the right side of the gun, and the grip particularly - but you have great shapes everywhere it counts, ie. what the player will actually see of the gun. Saved to inspiration folder!
Thanks for sharing. Works better already. A small lamp somewhere around the door or over it could work, since it would insert some color gradients around the door. Would also make sense in a game if you want to attract the player through the door, there.
