'the right' healthy foods are pretty much the same no matter what. Eat fruit, vegetables, balanced portions, oatmeal, yogurt, drink lots of water, dont drink too much coffee, dont take in too much sodium if you dont exercise, etc...
To me both are nearly the same. Unity because of C# and the platforms it can compile to. UDK because of Scaleform (free-ish), the character animation system, particles, and terrain/vegetation tools and workflow. Depends on my project. *Scaleform is in Unity too as a plugin ($280-ish).
Most mobile devices (android and iOS) are far more efficient with transparent rather than cutout. Perhaps try the Vegetation shader from the documentation examples (might be built in, I'm not sure)? http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/Components/SL-AlphaTest.html - Last one on the page.
I, and all the people I went down with, also got the swine flu from PAX. It's been a crappy couple of days... but ultimately H1N1 is not as bad as regular influenza (which turned me into a vegetable for two weeks straight). PAX was still totally worth it.
I wont be able to watch it with sound until i get home so my view of it is kinda skewerd, but was the whole "look kids, daddy's going to kill some people, now eat your vegetables" at 2:50 just a little messed up?
I was contacted by what seems to be a reputable, large Russian MMO developer. I will PM you the developer if you want. They want me to do vegetation. What should I charge? Also, they are asking for my address, bank account number, and drivers license number. They say it is necessary for the NDA. Is this common?
Really cool thread! I like your vegetation, but whats going on with those black outlines? Imo you must remove them. Also need to revise your alpha on the last plant. I really want to play this game man! Keep it going :)
i must point to wall texture on a right side of the image, seam is just too visible And stain on the lower part of the texture dont correspond with a concrete(asphalt?) texture on a border That vegetation on the road is wrong looking, too flat looking and it grows out of nowhere
you need tools or weapons, maybe some kind of vegetable garden. post apoc i don't really think smart people would be out foraging, they'd farm food, probably hunt for meat, and they'd have some way to defend their resource.
thanks! that's actually a great reference. I was hoping to do something like that with the vegetation, but the only way I know how would be to use planes with alpha textures and I'm not trying to go overboard on transparent textures. Is there another way to create those kinds of details?
