Started on the first clump of grass. Pleased how headache free that was to get working compared to UDK.. I'll be colour adjusting things later. Not sure how to get a more random distribution when painting it as vegetation, any values i'm missing?
Hi all, Small article published here thought you might find it useful. https://80.lv/articles/rendering-scanned-vegetation-in-real-time/ The big redwood forest breakdown is being worked on. Good wishes, in particular. ~Ali
What type of map are you looking to make? Singleplayer/Multi? Either way, its quite sparse right now, and any fire fights would have players constantly in the open with no cover. Adding more land/vegetation should help that.
I was contacted by what seems to be a reputable, large Russian MMO developer. I will PM you the developer if you want. They want me to do vegetation. What should I charge? Also, they are asking for my address, bank account number, and drivers license number. They say it is necessary for the NDA. Is this common?
@Ruan great effort indeed, I hope it's going to be usable soon. Custom vertex normals would be extremely useful despite vegetation shader partially alieviating the problem of blocky shading (but only partially). I'm not sure it's something that can be done with an exporter is it?
Any parts you liked were mine. Honestly though, a lot of the vegetation in the vids, but most of the work I'm on won't be visible till the final game (doing map beautification) but while waiting on Level Designers I was making random 3d assets.
the close up shot looks pretty good...the wide angle is lacking...you might want to add some assets to break up the edges...some dead frozen vegetation....bones...even barrels...anything to fill in the space and make it more interesting
In this article the author was able to get some extra detail over the baking with the bevel shader. Maybe you just need that extra pass on a program like Painter or 3dCoat https://80.lv/articles/highway-scene-using-blender-for-modeling-and-vegetation-workflow/
Hello everyone, I would like to share the environment I worked on during my CGMA class environment art mentored by Peyton Varney. It was intense and the vegetation was a real challenge, but I did it and I am happy of my piece. Hope you will enjoy it also! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/9NZrmQ
Ok, so today I blocked out a bunch of vegetation and some smaller rockpiles. Here's the progress! Aaaand: I need to watch out so it doesn't become too noisy now tho. ^^ Might have to clean up the scene a bit.
